Andy’s Follies #30 – Ad Hominem Fallacy
It turns out there are many logical fallacies I feel a close connection to. For those of you acquainted with fallacies, the ad hominem is one of the easiest ones to understand. Taken from Latin, ad hominem means ‘to the man.’ Instead of attacking a person’s argument one attacks the character of the person making it.
I used George W Bush as an example. For those of you who remember there were many dark days of the Iraqi occupation. Everything seemed to be going wrong. Then President Bush found it difficult to say anything without people launching ad hominem attacks on the guy. (I just want to say I never voted for the man.)
